HAPPY NEW YEAR YA ALL, HOPE YOUR HOLIDAYS WERE BLUESIN.
Hey Barb, if I send you in regular email the more bolder flyer for the above event, that actually has the proper address of 199 -8th St in downtown Eugene (not not not 7th), would it be possible to put it in the website (please remove that thin printed old one)?
I have filed "Embrace Of Warmth" as a 501c3 (non-profit) organization. Expecting that darlin' "official" piece o' paper from the State by this Friday.
I have received a nice donation from Chambers Construction - its one heckava big company. I was so excited. It will provide a few haircuts for our homeless.
I am working with one of the musicians that was/is on the Appleseed Recording's CD of "Give US Your Poor" and AR will be giving me a slew of the cd's to sell at the event. I have endless thanks to Del - the creator of The Waterfront Blues Festival for that. We are also working with another huge entity in the hopes of getting them involved. I have done such mass emails, snail mails, face to face... that I truly hope there is a full house...I suppose that is the worry of any event promoter. I have done previous event, ie Shakespeare where we have 25,000 people in a weekend, and I have done conservation things where the crowds are from 50 to a couple hundred. ..but Cozmic holds about 300...so please spread the word.
Although there is a yearly event, very worthwhile, attends to around 700 homeless of Lane County at the annual Project Homeless Connecct...will be happening the first week of February...we will be there....I will be handing out "invite" flyers to our homeless and will be making an announcement from the small stage that Cindy Ingrim is in charge of...I know, we all know, that there is so much more that our communities, our state, our nation, our world, can do to end homelessness. Since I joined My Space (I guess a couple yrs ago) and just networking through colleagues (in drug counseling and teaching), even I was amazed at how many world wide organizations there are that help the homeless. I knew that there was a lot, but thankfully there are more.
My dream is to have someone - hope the school districts and mobile homes business' (like Guarantee) are listening...I want a bus to convert to 'an organization on the go' in order to reach OUR HOMELESS in the streets that are unable to reach places like The Eugene Mission, The Family Center, Project Homeless Connect, and other resources.
Please mark your calendars for MARCH 15, 2008 SATURDAY FROM 3PM TO 6PM.
VENUE IS: COZMIC. and here is that address again 199 -8th St. ...it really is 8th Street and Charleton.
Other events are in the works, one of which is solely giving tribute to OUR VETERANS. If you are a performer and would like to be a part of that event, please contact me. We also want to have the venue donated...maybe the ballroom at the Eugene Vets bldg on Willamette Street. I am also in contact with various people in Portland about getting a venue donated up there. I would encourage those who can to please support: Veterans Of America, and Paralyzed Veterans Of America...two organizations that I have supported for many many years.
And IF you have any blankets that you don't want, or want to donate a new or handmade one, that would be sooooooo cooooool, call me and we will make arrangements for me to pick them up. You can contact me through my email: HutchHaven@comcast.net
or 541/915-0902
Enjoy the evening my fellow Bluesers,
Cheers from "Mama C" Christine
shaking it in Springfield, Oregon
